I've got a new phone!

Hey

Just to let everyone know we've managed to get ourselves down the Vodaphone shop and buy new phones. I understand text messages are charge at normal rates, so if you fancy txt updates of life in NZ then our numbers are:

Gary: 02102385653
Jules: 02102272307

I'm not sure of the dial code from the UK to NZ, so you may have to do a bit of investigation. But please do txt me and that way I can get everyones numbers again.

We have a flat!

Hey,

Hot on the tails of our good job news, I am pleased to report we have managed to get someone to let us a flat. What a beauty it is to... brand new, 3 double bedrooms, open plan(not a bedsit), shared pool, and gym, close to the city centre, great bus links and next to shops. I'm just practising for the advertisement for a flatmate, I'm going to have to create in about 5 minutes time. Were moving in with our friend Julie from Chelters, and a-nother. So if anyone fancies a quick hop to NZ, then we've got a room going spare and with the news of our jobs, we might be able to afford the rent.... get this.... 184 pounds a month.

I will post up pictures of the flat in due course as I'm a bit chuffed!

We Have Jobs!

Hey

Good news, it's only taken two weeks, but I can report that myself and Jules have got jobs! Yes, you read correctly, even foreign countries want to employ us. It's taken countless days(well 8) of humping my bum around recruitment agencies, to finally get some result. From Monday the 20th Feb, I'll be data entering at the Bank of New Zealand.
Jules has done even better, it only took her around 3 days, and she has landed a job doing reception/massage in a fitness centre. It's initially more reception, but she will be doing more massage as time goes by.
So never fear Oxford & Cherwell Valley College, you will never have to buy me a leaving present again, as hopefully I'll be able to sustain myself in New Zealand.

Hello New Zealand!

Well, real time here, not blog story Brisbane time. We've arrived in New Zealand, where we are settling into the horrific prospect of rent and work in Auckland. The good thing is I've put up the last of the Australia pictures, and hopefully I'll finish writing some more Australian stories. We are enjoying Auckland, and we've met up with another of Jules friends Julie from Cheltenham...so all is well and I'm just raring to get a shirt and tie on...mmm

Teenage Koala Gun Crime on the Increase!

Well we've made it to Brisbane the kinda 1/2 way stage of the Australian part of the trip. I was really looking forward to Brisbane as it meant one thing for me, a chance to meet my hero and, I like to think, mentor, Steve(the Crocdile Hunter) Irwin. Australia Zoo, his home, is just outside the city, and it was school holidays, so he was bound to be there. Unfortunately we were not...we missed the one and only bus that goes out the 50 or so miles to the park at 9.00, so we had to come up with an equally good alternative. That alternative was Lone Pine Koala sanctuary, "The original, biggest and best Koala Sanctuary in the world". True to form, they had a fantastic aray of koalas, all ages and sizes, with the ability to pose for a nice Koala cheese shot(refer to picture blog), and it didn't stop there, many other exotic, unusual species only found on this strange red island. But as much as our amazment centred around the wildlife, the real curoisity of the park was not to be found in a pen or a cage, but in the cafe? For adorned on the wall was a gallery of photos of famous people hugging a koala. There was Jackie Chan, Cher......., and then an unexpected twist! There he/it was, calm as you like, not looking too much out of place.......... Marilyn Manson!
The king of the dark side, obviously has a more cute and cuddly side, perhaps even the youth of America can be rescued from their corrupted state?
